DISCOVER ASHVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville, NC is a hidden gem only a few hours from South Carolina's capital city. Like many other small tourist towns, Asheville has something to offer those seeking solace and adventure. Here's our view on visiting Asheville.
Places to Stay
The Omni Grove Park Inn was where we decided to spend our time relaxing. This historic, 108 year old hotel has hosted many famous people from Alex Haley, Danny Glover to Al Jarraeau to name a few.

During our stay, we had the opportunity to ride on one of the world's oldest and most unique elevators. Normally, we would have gotten a picture of such a unique find, however, due to the hustle and bustle we were not able to do so.
I must say, the hotel had an older side and a newer side. If you are into the older, rustic decor, you would be pleased with the older side of the hotel. Unfortunately, we are not, we requested to be moved to the Sammons side of the hotel which was more modern and updated. We were lucky that the hotel was able to accommodate us, due to a large conference that was being held there during our visit.
Places to Visit
We began our visit at the Asheville Salt Cave. Our goal was to experience its relaxing and healing properties. The cave was filled with large pink Himalayan salt in the ceiling and the floor was covered in crushed salt particles. This 45 minute experience was very relaxing and a must when visiting Asheville.
Deciding to be adventurous since we were in town for only one night, we ventured to the Asheville Outlet's to look around and shop. Due to traffic and other unforeseen circumstances, we arrived at the outlets 30 minutes before closing. As most parts of the US, the outlets close early due to the COVID-19 precautionary reasons.
We also toured the River Arts District. We saw rows and rows of graffiti buildings painted bright and cheerful designs showcasing each artists talent and vision.
Places to Eat
Due to such a short visit and the unexpected downpour, our meal choices were limited to the many restaurants at the Omni Grove Park Inn. We decided to grab a burger and drinks from the bar. We originally, had plans to eat at the Sunset Terrace but decided against it due to the late reservation time.
Although we didn't eat at the Venue, another restaurant located at the hotel, we did visit the bar area and watched the 2021 Olympic games while sipping on a cold brew. I must admit, the food did look quite tasty.
Things to Drink
Since our overnight stay in Asheville was primarily spent at the hotel, we decided to visit the bar for drinks. Since we were celebrating a birthday, the bar gave the birthday boy a complimentary glass of champagne.

I asked the bartender to make me her specialty which was a rum punch. It wasn't like the rum punch in Jamaica, but it was ok. I must admit, the drinks were really pricey for the size.

As always, the husband got old faithful a Budlight.
